We are a bit sad after our last Comenius meeting abroad, because we know that we are almost at the end of this interesting and exciting project called “Media and young Europeans”.
It was our second visit to Cadiz to discuss and evaluate the project and, as usual, all the coordinator teachers in each school (from England, Finland, Norway, Spain) have attended the meeting with the other members of staff active in the project.
In the meeting work and leisure were well-balanced, thanks to the careful planning of the Spanish team: the visitor teachers visited the school and saw the Spanish pupils’ lessons. Then we discussed our project and especially the Units on Public Information films edited by the pupils in each school.
We shared ideas for the parents’ information booklet, an advice leaflet for pupils and parents about responsible use of and attitudes towards the various types of media, which should be ready before May.
We also discussed the Sicily pupil conference.
At the beginning of May, four or five pupils of each participating schools, will gather in Tremestieri Etneo for the second pupil conference ( the first one was in Norway). They will produce jointly Public Information posters and of course Sicilian pupils will be involved in the planning of the conference.
We also had the chance to enjoy together visiting “Los Torunos § La Algaida Pinetree Forest” Natural Park and the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art Foundation.
We had a tour of Sevilla and a social event in Cadiz for the Spanish staff to meet and exchange experiences with their colleagues from the partner schools, and for the visitors to eat traditional Spanish food listening to Flamenco songs.
The objectives of developing knowledge and the critical awareness of media diversity, and developing close working relationships between the schools involved in the project have been achieved to a great extent so far.

La Escuela Segundaria de 1º grado Raffaello Sanzio también este año ha participado a este proyecto confirmando la esperiencia única que esta actividad educativa representa. Para el 2012 el tema tratado ha sido “Los medios de comunicación y los jóvenes” y la destinación del encuentro entre los institutos participantes ( Ingleton Middle School – Inglaterra y la Escuela Segundaria de 1º grado Raffaello Sanzio – Italia) ha sido el instituto I.E.S. Sancti Petri en San Fernando (Cádiz- España) desde el 17 hasta el 21 de Enero. El programa de las actividades realizadas iniciaron con el encuentro entre las familias y los estudiantes huéspedes ocupandose de ellos todos los dias al regresar de las diferentes actividades que iniciaban a las 8:00 en la escuela y que se concluían normalmente por la tarde.
El 2º día a las 8:00 los alumnos representantes de las escuelas respectivamente de España, Inglaterra e Italia presentaron los propios institutos en inglés y español.
Sucesivamente se realizaron varias actividades en la escuela y después se hizo una visita de San Fernando y del Jardín Botánco el todo asociado siempre a diferentes actividades educativas.
El 3º día, iniciando siempre en el instituto con actividades didácticas se continuó con la visita de Cádiz , ciudad cercana a San Fernando entre monumentos, cultura, gastronomía y naturaleza…
El 4º día fue dedicado a la visita del parque natural y reserva “Casa de los Toruños” representativo de toda la flora y la fauna presente en esta zona.
El 5º y último día fue el momento de las despedidas, pero no solo, sino también el momento en el cual se comprende cómo esta importante y única esperiencia sirva en la evolución del nivel umano y cultural de los estudiantes que no se concluye con el retorno, sino que continúa con los próximos encuentros que se realizarán esta vez en Italia con la colaboración de las familias y de nuestra Escuela “Raffaello Sanzio”.
